FAQ

Common Questions We Hear from Our Neighbors

What are your working hours?

We're here and at your service from Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm. We take our weekends and major holidays to be with family, so we're closed then.

Do you participate in the 'Share the Harvest' program?

Yes, indeed. 'Share the Harvest' is close to our hearts. It allows hunters like yourself to donate whole deer for local food banks. If you bring a whole deer, there's no charge on your part. Just a note — we need deer to come in according to Conservation guidelines, especially for CWD testing. That needs doing before you drop your deer off with us.

How 'bout beef? Can you cut it into quarters?

When it comes to beef, we can certainly split it into quarters. However, they need to be cut and packaged uniformly. So, all the cuts, sizes, and thickness will be consistent across the board.

Can I keep the organ meats?

Absolutely. Every beef has one tongue, tail, liver and heart, though. So, if you're splitting the beef, only one of y'all can take 'em. And just so you know, we don't grind the organs with the ground product.

What about my ground beef burger's leanness?

We aim for 80/20 when trimming, but we don't add any extra fat. So, if your beef's on the leaner side, your ground will reflect that. We'll do our best, but can't promise exact ratios like 90/10.

Do you handle goats, sheep, or poultry?

We appreciate the inquiry, but we specialize in beef, pork, and deer. We have handled buffalo before, but no poultry, sheep, or goats.

How long will my beef age?

Normally, we hang beef for 11 days. Want it aged longer? Please mention that when scheduling. We do offer limited slots for extended aging, 18 and 26 days, and there will be an extra charge for that.

Pigs can be aged too?

No. Pigs get processed fairly quickly. We slaughter on Friday and by Monday they're ready for the next steps. So, best share any specific details with us by the following Monday morning.

Do y'all have storage facilities?

We don't have long-term storage, but we can keep your meat for a short while. After 7 days from your pick-up call, there's a $15 storage fee. And a gentle reminder — after 21 days, we can't vouch for the meat's condition.

How can I settle up with you?

We accept cash, checks, or cards. If you're paying with a card, there's a 4% service fee.

I'd like to spread the word about J&J. How can I do that?

It warms our hearts to hear that! If you're inclined, kindly leave us a review on Google or Facebook. Sharing your experience helps our family continue the tradition of top-notch service and genuine care in our community.

If you have more questions, don't hesitate to give us a call or drop by. We're always here to help our community get the best cuts and service!
